about

Two years after their second album 'Overseas', French band Evergreen are releasing a new song inspired by the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.

'Quarantine' was born during an improvised session on the day French president Macron announced the national lockdown. Recorded in a state of urgency, the song imagines a world confined for years on end, in which two individuals decide, one evening, to brave lockdown and roam a now-abandoned city.

Evergreen dedicate ‘Quarantine' to all people affected by the current pandemic, as well as the medical personnel across the globe. All proceeds from the song are redirected towards French medical research against the virus.

lyrics

Lyrics:

We slip into the night like ordinary thieves
I haven’t been outside for more than thirty weeks
Nobody tried to stop us as we left the house
They forgot all the locks the building let me out
It let me out
It let me out

The state is in abandon all the signs are gone
We drive into the city just to see who's up
And if the road is blocked then we can walk the way
The morning doesn’t start as long as we’re awake
As we’re awake
As we’re awake

I didn't know I was missing the world the world much
We lost control of our senses and danced It off
I never thought we would make it through
I never thought i'd remain with you

It’s not as bad as it seems I’ve learned to deal with it
They held us quarantined for more than twenty years
They voted to extend the curfew to the limit
I’m usually good at pretending but my heart’s not in it
It’s not in it
It’s not in it

I never thought I was missing the world this much
We lost control of our senses and danced it off
I never know what to make of this
I never know what to make of us

The evening doesn’t stop as long as we're awake
I haven’t been outside for more than thirty days
And if the road is long then it will spell your name
We might be stranded home
But I’m still glad you came
I’m glad you came
I’m glad you came

I didnt know I was missing the world this much
We lost control of our senses and danced it off
I never know what to make of this
I never know what to make of us
